About Me

Gabelo Camiro

BIOGRAPHY

Raised in The Woodlands, Texas, I grew up in nature preserves and community events. I started attending The Woodlands College Park High School in 2019 and joined the Cross Country team where I would compete through my senior year.  In my junior and senior year, I founded and ran a club called SABER (The Student Association of Biological and Environmental Research) with the ultimate goal of promoting sustainability and environmental education amongst our peers and community.  We partnered with many organizations including The Woodlands GREEN and NPSOT (Native Plant Society Of Texas) to receive funding for projects and assist in their own efforts in any way we could, including volunteering at GREEN's invasive species removal and NPSOT's plant propagations. My junior and senior year were also my greatest successes in Cross Country, where I traveled and competed at Regionals and State. I graduated in May of 2023 with honors and active membership of the National Honor Society. In Fall of 2023, enrolled at Texas A&M where I am currently majoring in Engineering and minoring in Horticulture. I have also began working as a Hemp Researcher and Breeder at the university's AgriLife Hemp Department. Currently, I plan on working on the Hemp Conversion Program where we plan on developing an open source seed library of 100 varieties by 2025. I also will continue to develop and sell my BELO✪ clothing collection.
